As many have noted by now, I'm working on a video game; an Adventure RPG at that. Apparently it's been in the works longer than I had thought. 4 years now, and it's still going strong. A few snags have come and gone. The primary one being the introduction of Skyrim. I've been playing Skyrim for quite a while now and have about 260 hours of total gameplay between my two characters. Why is this a snag, you ask? It's EPIC!! I had the bar for my game set pretty high. I was aiming to topple every RPG that exists today, that is until Skyrim was release and blew my game out of the water.

That being said, all it has done is encouraged me to develop my game further, take it deeper, and expand it wider. I still have concepts that have yet to be employed in any video game today, and I hope to keep it that way...that is until VnV hits the shelves. (^.^)

To further development and spur community awareness and involvement, I have officially started a blog. It will give an insider's look at different aspects of the game and how it's progressing. Of course no super secrets will be given out. That would spoil all of the fun, and potentially give way for someone else to steal the idea...who knows.

Check it out here: swordless-saru.blogspot.com

Some may recognize the name. I'm repurposing my old company and turning it into a development studio instead of a failed attempt at online retail...I'm still not giving up on my Subliminals, but let's just say they're taking a break right now. I still have plenty, so if you want some, PM me your address and I'll send you some. You'll just need to pay shipping which isn't too much. Anyways, I love the name and it's officially registered so I figured why not?

Oh, another snag that I anticipated on mentioning: I've been doing my best to keep track of the video game industry and where it's headed. Apparently there is a good chance that consoles may be on their way out. Game developers are doing fine since customers want games, but the cost of creating them is going up which is straining the middle-men: Publishers, Marketers, and Retailers. Given technology today and how well games are selling, one could make the leap and say neither of the 3 are required to produce and sell a game. By hiring some special talents and investing key funds, Game Developers could easily knock out the middle-men and sell directly to the public. Now the easiest way to do this would be via the internet. And what type of games utilize the internet? PC games!

Personally, I'm more of a console gamer. I don't like the thought of upgrading my computer just so I can play the next version of whatever game I've been playing, or paying monthly in order to continue playing. But I may just need to suck it up, 'cause I think that's probably where the industry is going. Now, Microsoft has officially release necessary info to developers pertaining to their next console, so that means they are set on releasing their XBox 720 probably within the next 3-4years I'd say. Some sources say that Sony is working on their next installment of the Playstation as well, but things seem to riding rough with the Vita right now. I just wonder if there will be an XBox 900 or PS5 in the books or not. How is this a snag for my game? I wanted to make a console game, but if consoles become old hat, then it will disrupt the likelihood of my game getting any further than a [massive] OneNote document...But being a PC game does open the door for greater development. See how I did that? Silver-lining, baby...that cloud's made of it!

*cough, cough* Anyways, check out my blog. Expect updates to hit on Sunday evenings...usually...
BTW using the same address mentioned above via a smartphone will provide you with a nifty mobile version, courtesy of Google.
